Day 27: Camping in Bruge to Dune camping outside Koksijde

Cycle: 69.05km//3hr56min//17.53km/hr
Wednesday September 4

We hummed and hawed about leaving, or spending the day, in Bruge. We decided to leave (looking back now, I have NO idea why). We departed very slowwwwwly, low on energy. Riding along yet another picturesque canal, we realized we hadn't had any Belgian beer yet. We eyed a pub next to the canal, surrounded by cattle, tracters etc and we decided in unison that it was time for a stop (never mind we had only been cycling 50 minutes and was just past 12). St.Bernardus ABT (10%), where have you been all my life!!!!!!!!! Mmmmmmmmm and beer nuts.....mmmmmmmm. One was just not enough. Nearly, very nearly, neither was 2. However, we realized that cycling would be out of the question if that happened. As it was, we had to stop at some picnic tables just after the pub to wolf down some sandwiches and regain our composure.

Despite our pints, we found a handy bike trail called the Kust trail (I'll let you guess at what that translates to in English) which took us 30 km along board-walked, touristed, and sandy coastline. We just kept riding until we didn't want to ride no more....then wild camped in the dunes (again!).!

One of the gated entering the city of Bruge. We cycle around the towns perimeter, and saw most of these gates.
A typical site in Bruge.
There are weird tatonka statues in Bruge even
Here I try to decipher the beer menu, written in another language. It doesn't help that I've already had one.

YES! A beautiful union.

A very happy Madalene.

Cycling past 'art' on the Kust Route.
Boardwalks, tourist, and sandy beach for 30 km.
